A subwoofer or sub, is a specialised speaker designed to reproduce low-frequency sounds, typically between 20 and 200 Hz. These deep bass sounds are essential for adding depth and realism to music, movies, and games. Without a subwoofer, audio systems often lack the full range of sound, missing the impactful rumble of explosions or the thump of a bassline.

A few myths often come up around subwoofers:
